The Law of Attraction: Can it Work for You with Prepping?

The Law of Attraction: Can it Work for You with Prepping?

May I continue a story?

The law of attraction yields powerful results in your life as you work at being prepared for emergencies.  You’ll see what I mean by the end of this writing.    Some people spend a whole week in the mountains, in the freezing cold, waiting for their prize game animal to walk into their gun sight.  But what if it came right into your garage-freezer, already wrapped in butcher paper?  Hold that thought.

I’m a dog person.  Right now, I have cats in my life (Nikki, come and get your cats).  This story happened a couple of years before the ‘wheat idea’ (see that story vol 1, issue 1 “What Kickstarted my Prepper-life?”).

My husband and I didn’t have a dog, nor children yet.    We were in a blue house on Remembrance Lane.  Later we rented this house to a lady who had bullet holes in her car.  Never rent to a lady who has bullet holes in her car.  It is in this house that I sat up in bed one morning and said, “Today we are getting a dog!”.

For years I knew what kind of dog I wanted.  It would be a Golden Retriever with soft fur and big brown eyes.  Well, guess who was at the pound that day staring through the bars at us.    He had just been donated, bequeathed, dumped or turned over to the facility that morning.  When I saw him, my eyes bugged--It’s my dream dog!  That’s him!   I had to wait four days to make sure no one claimed him, and then he was mine for $20 then $8000 then $5000 (Adoption fee, two destroyed yards, you know the drill).

I drove to the pound and did the pick-up, solo.  I had a thin leash that threatened to snap as I loaded this nervous animal into the small cab of my truck.  As I drove home and he bounced and slobbered, I had one powerful thought:” WHAT... HAVE... I... DONE?!”    I was nauseated.  Change is unsettling.  Luckily, this feeling was short-lived and soon the dog, we named Baloo, was perfectly assimilated into our hearts and home.

Here is Baloo’s favorite dog biscuit recipe.
From The Amazing Wheat Book by LeArta Moulton, LM Publications.
“A savory biscuit enjoyed by cats, dogs and masters”.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Slightly beat together:
1 large egg
1/3 C vegetable oil
½ C milk
½ tsp salt
4T Soup base*
Add: 1/5 Cups whole wheat flour
1 C dry skim milk
1/3 C quick cooking oats
2 T wheat germ (optional)
On a lightly floured surface knead ball one minute. Add more flour if it sticks to your hands.  Roll out and use a cookie cutter. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 25 minutes.

*Soup Base Recipe:
¾ c salt and sage
¼ C each thyme, marjoram, basil
2 T each cayenne, garlic powder, ground rosemary
2 tsp black pepper
1 T onion powder (omit for dogs)
Combine and store in a labeled container. Makes 2.5 Cups

I promised more information on the mock beef made from wheat gluten as well.  It is hours of work for a very small yield.  I’ll leave it at that.  But it is found on page 9 of The Amazing Wheat Book.

Today's Takeaways:

  • Wheat is cheap gold. If you get some, get a good cookbook and wheat grinder.   In 2020, the empty bread shelves at stores were unreal, surreal, made me squeal-- and not in a good way.

  • If you have a mind towards preparedness and you are putting in the work, you will begin to attract things, the way I attracted my ultimate dog. Now back to my original story:  I once attracted a whole stand-alone freezer of meat, for free.  Beef jerky, T-bone steaks, chuck, rib-eye, ham, bacon, all the cuts.  It was an amazing blessing to a gal who canned meat and lived frugally.  This was hundreds of dollars worth of food.
What is the craziest thing you’ve attracted?  How much time and money did you save because an item just came to you?  You are better at this than you think, and you are already doing it.   Your peace will grow as all is safely gathered in.    Step on, prep on, and enjoy the ride.
